Located on the stunning Maharees Peninsula, a hidden gem between Tralee Bay and Brandon Bay, our powerboat school offers a full suite of accredited courses, from beginner to advanced. With a fleet of well-equipped boats and a classroom just 300 m from Scraggane Pier, we make sure your time on the water is immersive, practical and fun.

  • ISA Introduction to Powerboating Certificate  (Level 1)

    You will learn boat preparation, clothing/gear, slow-speed handling, manoeuvring, anchoring, man-over-board, safety and regulations, rope work, towing, weather awareness, and navigation & pilotage.

    Complete beginners — ideal for first-time crew members

  • ISA National Powerboat Certificate (Level 2)

    You will learn launch/recovery, planning & high-speed handling, mooring & buoy work, anchoring, man-over-board, safety, rules of the road, coastal navigation & knowledge, boat types, engines & drives, weather and more.

    For those with some boating experience — a common first “skippering” qualification

  • ISA Safety Boat Certificate

    You will learn rescue & incident-management techniques, safety-boat procedures for sailing fleets, windsurfers, kayaks/canoes/kitesurfers, emergency and medical-incident response, search patterns & event support roles

  • ISA Diver Coxswain Certificate

  • ISA Personal Watercraft Certificate (PWC / Jet Ski)

  • ISA Coastal Navigation for Small Boats Certificate

    You will learn International licence recognition, based on existing National Powerboat Certificate or equivalent — tailored for experienced boaters seeking certification for foreign waters

We recommend bringing appropriate waterproof clothing, footwear, and a change of clothes. For courses including night

Our powerboat training is delivered by instructors who are actively involved at the highest levels of the sport, both nationally and internationally. In April 2025, Charlotte travelled to Croatia to become one of just 12 instructors worldwide certified as a UIM Racing Aquabike Instructor. Philip is a UIM Race Commissioner, regularly officiating at world championship events across Europe and Asia, from Sweden to China. Through our ongoing involvement with Powerboat Ireland and Powerboat NI, we are deeply committed to developing the sport at home and putting Ireland on the international powerboat racing map, including hosting a UIM World Championship event at Lough Derg in September 2026.

    Can’t wait to go back for more coffee and Sauna!

    Went to Beal Gael Sauna today for the first time. Had already been a few times this week for their delicious coffee “Ponaire”. But had yet to try the Sauna. What can I say …only fantastic! From the minute we arrived we were so well looked after by Charlotte and her team. The sauna was lovely, and a great view of tralee bay. When you need to cool down you can go in the sea a few short steps away, or in the refreshing shower directly outside.

    Such a peaceful, rejuvenating experience.

    Did the new sauna at Beal Geal Saunas in Castlegregory today while the kids were off enjoying the trampolines — absolute bliss! The whole place was spotless, and the freshwater shower afterwards was incredible. Such a peaceful, rejuvenating experience. Can’t wait to return tomorrow!
