Ireland’s Favourite Beach Experience
Where professionalism meets personality – real people, real waves, and plenty of craic.
SplashSports
About us
Founded in 1990 and proudly family-run, Splashsports has grown into one of Ireland’s longest-standing coastal activity centres. We’re based in the stunning Maharees Peninsula, between Brandon Bay and Tralee Bay — a truly hidden gem of the Wild Atlantic Way. We believe adventure should be safe, affordable, and inclusive. Once known as Waterworld, we rebranded in 2016 to better reflect our identity, a vibrant, family-run coastal adventure centre where fun and professionalism flow side by side.
For over three decades, we’ve shared our love of the ocean with visitors from near and far. Our passionate team, led by Charlotte and Phillip, bring local knowledge, years of teaching experience, and a genuine love of what they do.
From the moment you arrive, you’re part of the Splash family. Whether you’re learning to surf, splashing through our Aqua Park, or enjoying a coffee overlooking Sandy Bay, we’re here to make sure every experience is safe, joyful, and unforgettable.

Meet Philip & Charlotte
About Phillip
The Man In Charge
Phillip is the co-owner and lead instructor at Splashsports, bringing a lifetime of experience on the water to everything he does. Having grown up in Tralee, his summers were spent in the Maharees where his mother and father created Waterworld Diving Centre, becoming pioneers in Ireland’s scuba history (His dad Ronnie discovered Fungie the Dingle Dolphin).
It was in these years, Phillip developed a deep connection to the sea. Life by the Atlantic shaped not only his skills, but also his respect for the ocean and his passion for the outdoors, now sharing his passion with his children. Phillip’s role at Splashsports is hands-on and varied. He leads powerboat training, oversees safety standards, the maintenance man, mentors instructors, and gets stuck in when needs be! Whether teaching advanced boating skills, ferrying you to the Aquapark or introducing you to the world of surfing, his focus is always on giving you the best possible introduction to watersports, building confidence, and real-world experience that will follow you throughout your life.
Beyond teaching, Phillip is passionate about promoting the Northern Dingle Peninsula and sharing what makes this coastline so special. Operating between Tralee Bay and Brandon Bay, he takes pride in showcasing the area as a world-class location for watersports and marine training. His involvement in high-level powerboating has also helped shine a light on Ireland as a serious destination for the sport, while staying rooted in local values and community as a volunteer of the Maharees Conservation Society. At heart, Phillip is an outdoors person who believes learning on the water should be safe, professional, and enjoyable for all the family no matter your age or ability. That belief is the foundation of Splashsports and continues to guide how the school operates today.
About Charlotte
The Woman Who Knows What’s Happening
Charlotte is the Centre Manager and a Senior Powerboat Instructor at Splashsports. As an integral part of the team, she brings a calm, organised approach to running day-to-day operations and supporting students and staff through every stage of their watersports journey. Charlotte works alongside Phillip to deliver consistent, professional and personalised instruction across all levels of powerboat training, from beginner courses to PWC (personal watercraft courses) to diver coxswain.
She grew up in Dublin, originally leading a career in the scuba diving industry both in Ireland and abroad, but was drawn back to the Maharees for its blooming watersports reputation. Charlotte shares Splashsports passion for life on the water and for helping people grow in confidence and skill. She enjoys being part of a close-knit team that champions safety, professionalism and fun in everything we do. Her role covers managing bookings, coordinating courses, engaging with students, and ensuring that the centre runs smoothly, so visitors always have a positive and rewarding experience.
Charlotte’s commitment to excellence reflects Splashsports’ values of high-quality instruction delivered in a supportive, community-focused environment.
Maharees Conservation Association
We’re proud to be part of the Maharees community, home to the dedicated Maharees Conservation Association. Their ongoing work helps protect the peninsula’s beautiful dunes, unique landscape, and rich local heritage for future generations. We encourage all visitors to respect this special environment and help preserve it for years to come.
